Two-way Street

During one of our sessions in our OC 152 Class, our professor invited a speaker who talked about the use of online tools for Viral Marketing. Mr. Gian Paolo Pangan, the invited guest, is currently the Strategy Manager of Yehey Philippines Corporation, which most of us is most likely already familiar with. Sir Paolo started his talk that morning with a video and a discussion on Internet, wherein he pointed out that:

  • Internet gave way for shifts or changes to happen
  • Internet has become an essential touch point
  • With internet, finite contact points evolved to infinite contact points

As he went on further with his discussion on online Marketing, one of the important things he stressed out is that gone were the days when consumers were just plain consumers. People today are more aware of what they want and how they want it. More importantly, they themselves have become “Prosumers” = consumers + producers. Read the rest of this entry »

Trouble, now Double

vabIt has almost been a week ago since Typhoon Ondoy struck Metro Manila. Everyone didn’t expect the damage it caused. A lot of people, mostly students and employees, were stranded. There were those who were a little lucky to be on their respective offices and universities during the flood, and then there were those who were more unfortunate as they first-handedly watched the water rose on the street. But saying that they were unfortunate is actually an understatement. While they were watching the flood, some people in other places of Metro Manila were already on the battle to save their lives. Indeed, Ondoy made himself a spot on the list of Philippine Calamities that took a lot of souls and properties. A lot of people haven’t completely recovered yet from the damages it made, yet another typhoon, Pepeng–a stronger typhoon–is causing terror to the country once more.

The effects of these calamities are greatly felt all over the Philippines. Everyone has their eyes on what happened and what will happen. The presence of Ondoy and Pepeng are everywhere, affecting every state–physical, emotional, mental, and even the cyber world.

Say it online

A Press Release is one of the major tools for a company’s publicity. It lets the people know what the company is all about, what are the latest happenings within the company, the services and the products the company offers and it lets them reach their stakeholders. Making their presence known to the public, especially to their stakeholders, allows them to maintain loyalty and relationship, and can give the stakeholders a sense of security by being well-informed. The more the public are well-informed, the more the company’s services and products are recognized. My Wiki. Your Wiki. Our Wiki.

Companies are now recognizing the importance of Mass Collaboration, both internally and externally. They are now aware of the power of working together, along with the convenience of doing it even without the presence of those working on the project. And one of the tools that is now being acknowledged by these companies is Wikipedia. Wikipedia, for most of us, is our ever-reliable source of information that we usually use to answer our queries and for some, to back up their research. Most Academicians, though, discouraged the use of it because other readers, who may not be really credible, have the ability to edit it. This is where we take Wikipedia.

blogWikipedia users are aware of its features that allow you to edit, input and save its content. People do this to add new ideas on already existing articles that can be found on Wikipedia sites. What most people probably aren’t very much aware of is its feature that actually allows you to create your own Wikipedia site. This is the side of Wikipedia that companies should focus their attention on. Companies can save themselves from those toxic meetings, heavy papers for memos and other reports, and the likes by creating their own Wikipedia Sites. They can just easily setup a page, tell their employees about it, so that employees may, then, start using them.

Company X is now following you

Debates and Argumentation, by far, is one of the subjects, which I am really enjoying a lot (excluding the heavy readings). For the past weeks, I have witnessed my classmates argued their way out to survive Burn’s adjudication. It is not so scary after all as what we thought it would be at first. We were all just having fun saying hear-hear’s and shame-shame’s, and cheering at each other’s silliness when we’re all out of words to say.

Two of the motions we had dwelled on from the past weeks were on the issues of whether smokers should not be accepted by companies and whether the license of doctors with moral issues should be terminated. Two different motions with a common denominator, and that is the question of should one’s personal lifestyle meddle with one’s professional life. I would not further on with how the debate turned out. Instead, I will be taking the recent question on another context: New Social Media. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the many activities that consume my time in school are group meetings. Almost all my subjects require us group works and projects. Unfortunately, sometimes, not all of us have all the time to attend them. Group sessions and brainstorming, however, cannot be compromised just because not all can be present during the set date; so, we take the meeting online. We discuss our matters over YM Conference.

First Climb

I just thought of sharing a video of Miko, my baby brother. He’s turning one next month, and this is his first attempt to climb on my bed. His motivation, to get to my stuff (laptop, cellphone) and play with them.

Momentous moments like this are just so easy to share, thanks to the kind of media we have right now.

The first climb is always the hardest. Enjoy! 🙂
